A new idea for me

I have just joined. I take photos with my DSLR but I've recently really started to enjoy the ability to have my phone with me and take photos. Why didn't I do this years ago. I love photography, have been doing it for 35 years and will continue to do it until I can't lift a phone or camera. I live in a coastal area and travel a fair deal (at least until covid hit). I have an abundance of seascapes and beaches but also photos from various countries. Can't wait to show them as my family aren't as enthusiastic as I am.

Big welcome Glynis. This sounds familiar. No one is interested in my hobby and I’ve abandoned the Dslrs etc for mobile photography. There’s a real good core of people here.
look forward to seeing your iPhone images.

If you're serious about mobile photography then this is definitely the place to be.
Just start posting!

Hi Glynis - I have the same issue about photo apathy at home, I get really excited about a shot, but no-one around is interested to even look! Mobitog is a wonderfully supportive online community, who will welcome all your work. So get posting!

Welcome Glynis. It’s lovely to have you here. I can’t wait to see photographs of your ‘hood and beyond. I’m guessing from your moniker that you’re in Australia (or maybe not?). We have a few members from down-under; where do you call home at the moment?:)

Hi Jilly, I m at beautiful Nelson's Bay, two and a half hours north of Sydney. It is a peninsula surrounded by 28 beaches and even if I do say so myself, it is paradise. I'd love to post, first though I'm just trying to work out the site. Is there a page that gives directions or explains things. I looked on one page but there was nothing on it.

Give it an hour or two and admins will be round with all the relevant info for you.
In the meantime the help page is there should you want a look: https://mobitog.com/help/how_to/ and feel free to ask, it's a friendly site where people are generally happy to make life easier for each other.

This is usually RoseCat Catherine’s job, but she has been busy so I’ll welcome you with her words.

Welcome to MobiTog Glynis!
:D
You have most definitely come to the right place to meet new people, learn about mobile photography and hone your skills.

Here's some information that might prove useful as you find your way around:

At the bottom right on any page you'll see “Help” - click on that and it will bring you to our detailed help section. You can also click this link: https://mobitog.com/help/

Visit our "How Do I..." forum, where you'll find all sorts of tips and tricks to help you find your way around more easily: How Do I...

The MobiTog Community is set out in four main areas or sections:

Community
Here we welcome everyone, post announcements and take in your suggestions and comments.

Image Sharing
Self-explanatory and broken down into sub-sections clearly named to make it easy to find a topic of your choice. It is here that you post your images.

Mobitography Discussion
For general conversations and discussions about all things mobile photography related.

Members Area
An exclusive MobiMembers-only section. Feel free to discuss things with other members - and find out about Top Secret stuff not for public consumption!

Important note: Please remember that only images originated on a mobile device (iOS or Android) can be posted to this community. No pictures created on a DSLR or compact camera are allowed.

Handy Tip: At the top of the site you'll see "New Posts", and clicking/tapping on it will take you to all the unread new posts that occurred since your last visit. Note: If there's just too many there to deal with, and you're really anal like me you can go up to the top and select "Mark Discussions Read" - and choose just a specific area to 'clear out', for example App Discussions, or choose all discussions which will clear everything and allow you to sort of 'start fresh'. That way the next time you go into New Posts, there will just be the most recent posts since you "erased" everything.

Also when you hover over your username in the very top right, you have an option to choose "Ignore New Posts", and select any forums/discussions that you DON'T want to show up.

FUN STUFF!!
We have lots of great challenges to help hone your skills and have loads of fun doing it, like JillyG Jilly's Black & White Challenge, and for the color-minded we have MobiColor, zenjenny Jen’s outside-the-box APPstract Challenge, and lots more. Check them out in our Competitions & Challenges forum!!

We also have some wonderful on-going Community "drop-ins", like Sign Spotting, Shadow Selfies, Found Faces, MobiTattoos
;)
, Our Grandchildren, Our Pets, and The MobiCafe.

Lastly, if you have any questions on anything at all be sure to give us a shout out!

Welcome to MobiTog! And now we get to see yet another part of Australia, too. (zenjenny's near Perth and Geek1956 and younger are around Sydney, I think.)

The site's a puzzle for everyone at first, and the help page is somewhat out of date, so best just to shout out when you've got questions. A couple of tips:

* All the action is in the discussion threads in the various forums. The galleries look enticing, but they don't get much traffic.

* You can create your own thread if you want as well as post images in the ongoing threads. Quite a few people start a thread of their own to post images that don't fit elsewhere. Mine's terse fragments, for example, and there's also Rizole Overexposed, On My Walk, Zenjen's wreckages, and others.

* The main places to see and be seen are the weekly B/W and MobiColour challenges. (MobiColour usually has a theme each week. B/W doesn't.)

* The MobiTog web site will downsize any large images to 1500 pixels on the long side. There is an upper limit on the size of uploads -- I think it's 8MB or 3000 pixels on the long side. (Could be wrong, though.) I usually resize my images to 1500 px before uploading so that I can double-check what they look like, but you can just let the site resize your uploads if you want.

* "How'd you do that?" is a perfectly acceptable response to any image.:D

Yes please! Want to see all those beach pictures. Start your own thread under Projects and Ongoing as terse (Ted) has mentioned above. Then we can see them all together.

Welcome to MobiTog! You definitely don’t have to worry about unenthusiastic people here, LOL. We love to see photos and I look forward to seeing your neck of the woods. :)
