A Warm Welcome To Greg McMillan

Welcome to MobiTog Greg! So glad you joined us! :D You have most definitely come to the right place to meet new people, learn about mobile photography and hone your skills. Take a look around, maybe join a challenge or two, and feel free to ask us any questions - our MobiCommunity are a super friendly and helpful bunch of mobile photography addicts enthusiasts!! :D

Here's some information that might prove useful as you find your way around:

At the bottom right on any page you'll see “Help” - click on that and it will bring you to our detailed help section. You can also click this link: https://mobitog.com/help/

Visit our "How Do I..." forum, where you'll find all sorts of tips and tricks to help you find your way around more easily: How Do I...

The MobiTog Community is set out in four main areas or sections:

Community
Here we welcome everyone, post announcements and take in your suggestions and comments.

Image Sharing
Self-explanatory and broken down into sub-sections clearly named to make it easy to find a topic of your choice. It is here that you post your images.

Mobitography Discussion
For general conversations and discussions about all things mobile photography related.

Members Area
An exclusive MobiMembers-only section. Feel free to discuss things with other members - and find out about Top Secret stuff not for public consumption!

Important note: Please remember that only images originated on a mobile device (iOS or Android) can be posted to this community. No pictures created on a DSLR or compact camera are allowed.

Handy Tip: At the top of the site you'll see "New Posts", and clicking/tapping on it will take you to all the unread new posts that occurred since your last visit. Note: If there's just too many there to deal with, and you're really anal like me you can go up to the top and select "Mark Discussions Read" - and choose just a specific area to 'clear out', for example App Discussions, or choose all discussions which will clear everything and allow you to sort of 'start fresh'. That way the next time you go into New Posts, there will just be the most recent posts since you "erased" everything.

Also when you hover over your username in the very top right, you have an option to choose "Ignore New Posts", and select any forums/discussions that you DON'T want to show up.

FUN STUFF!!
We have lots of great challenges to help hone your skills and have loads of fun doing it, like JillyG Jilly's Black & White Challenge, and for the color-minded we have MobiColor, zenjenny Jen’s outside-the-box APPstract Challenge, and lots more. Check them out in our Competitions & Challenges forum!!

We also have some wonderful on-going Community "drop-ins", like Sign Spotting, Shadow Selfies, Found Faces, MobiTattoos ;) , Our Grandchildren, Our Pets, and The MobiCafe.

Lastly, if you have any questions on anything at all be sure to give us a shout out!

Thanks for all the info, Rose. I’m sure I’ll love it here. I host a little place on the net called the Artful iPhotography Community which is somewhat similar to Mobitog, though not as busy lol. Feel free to check it out too at artfulipc.club. I’m certainly not here to endorse it to steer folks away, just mentioning it in passing.

As you may have seen, I started a new podcast where I interview members of that community and just released the latest episode with Kevin Barrett, who pointed me to Mobitog. I wouldn’t be opposed to interviewing some Mobitog members as well sometime in the future. Just throwing that out there. :) It’s all about community.

So, Greg! Now we caught you, too! :lmao:
Very welcome to MobiTog! I'm pretty sure you will find inspiration and awesome shots done with all kinds of phones. And don't forget the fun! ;)

Tom
Ha ha! Thanks Tom. Ya, I’m an iPhone guy, and although I’m not fond of Android, I do respect others greatly and appreciate the amazing cameras in all other phones. It’s no different than a Canon guy amongst a crowd of Nikons, Sonys, Fujis, etc. It’s getting to the point now where we can’t tell which phone took the photo, and that's a good thing.
One thing I do love is the friendships I’ve gained in the mobile community over the years. And here at Mobitog, I feel like I’m starting many more!

The good thing is that we don't care about what guy you are! ;) It's all about light, lens and a media to capture it.
What I like most here is we rarely talk about tech stuff but about the image.
And about your last sentence - there is nothing more to say. That's what I like most here!

I posted a couple of photos in the Media section in a new album called RAW Files with some details about how I did them. Is that a no-no?

Not at all. The only problem with posting there is that it doesn't get nearly as much traffic as the forums. You'll get the best exposure by posting pix in one of the ongoing threads (the various challenges, etc) or by starting a thread of your own. For example, I've got a thread for my miscellaneous items here:

RoseCat's got one here:

and there's a bunch of others, all in the Projects & Ongoing Work section along with the 365s and 52s:
