This is an area where a small waterfall meets the shore, tumbling down coastal cliff rocks to the beach. The cold wind freezes the water but the warm sun, when it comes out, warms the rocks behind the ice, allowing some water to flow.

For these pictures the legs of my tripod were under water and I moved some rocks to have a place to stand/crouch.

Giant ice crystals.

PureShot brackets with 2X lens > Fusion HDR > Simply HDR.
Out for a walk with my daughter at Killarney lake park, Fredericton. This was a trailside puddle. The long diagonal ice crystal on the right is fully 2 feet, .6 metre, long. It must have been very calm over night. I’m not sure if a slow or fast temperature change would yield the biggest crystals.
