“Form itself, even if completely abstract ... has its own inner sound.”
― Wassily Kandinsky

“We want you to take from us. We want you, at first, to steal from us, because you can’t steal. You will take what we give you and you will put it in your own voice and that’s how you will find your voice. And that’s how you begin. And then one day someone will steal from you.” —Francis Ford Coppola

“But nobody is visually naive any longer. We are cluttered with images, and only abstract art can bring us to the threshold of the divine.”
― Dominique De Menil, The Rothko Chapel: Writings on Art and the Threshold of the Divine

Ironically, despite the fact that Calvin decides to embrace commercialism in this strip, creator Bill Watterson famously turned down nearly all opportunities to license his work. No toys, no Happy Meals, no magnets, no animated shows or movies, and especially no Calvin peeing on various truck logo stickers. He left an estimated $300-400M from licensing deals sitting on the table because he just didn't need it. He was content to make the best cartoon he could about a precocious boy and his best friend/stuffed tiger and then just walk away when he felt it was time. I respect that.

Further to ImageArt Ann’s intro to DestroyPix:
Ann suggested destroy-then-heal. I did that about ten times, putting each new version through a different filter/effect app (I just realised I forgot DistressedFX ) before repeating the destroy/heal. I blended some in Union. I only used a couple of the brushes. Mosh and Expose are quite nice.

As Ann said, it’s a very basic Glitché kind of app. Its best feature might be its multiple undos. But I’d like to see what one of our more adventurous abstractists come up with. Not looking at anyone in particular. *cough* *mumble* *point*
