Time Stamp - Phase 3

New Changes to Time Stamp: We have decided to dispense with the Wrap-up and the Grand Wrapper-Upper and see how that goes. No more favourite photo picked each week. In addition to posting our 2pm photos and the usual exchanges about photos and stories, the focus has changed to enjoying Time Stamp as a happening in itself.

If you have any ideas to make Time Stamp more fun please share them with us.
-------------------------------------
Join the intrepid Time Stamp team for Saturday, 2pm, adventures!

Overview: Here at MobiTog we have participants all over the world, in many different time zones. What if everyone made a picture at 2pm on Saturday, of whatever is going on, wherever they happen to be, and share that picture on Time Stamp. We should end up with a global snapshot of what is going on everywhere at 2 pm. This could be ordinary, humorous, puzzling, but it is bound to be interesting. The Time Stamp title comes from the metadata that is added to every new photo at the time it is made, the creation date and time.

Normally there is no theme, but it could happen sometime so watch out:). Set your phone alarm or alert to go off at 2pm. Wherever you happen to be at that time make some photos that tell us something about your location, what you are doing, what you see, whatever is happening, or make something happen. An important detail is that your picture(s) must be made between 2:00pm to 2:20pm, your local time, on Saturday afternoon. Post your pictures (up to 3) on this thread. See what others are doing in many places around the world.

If you would like some extra challenge to your Time Stamp activities make use of the opportunity to develop your ability to come up with good photos on the spot, or on demand, even when it seems there is nothing around to work with, and even if you don’t feel the least bit inspired. To discover the extraordinary among the ordinary. This is the skill of a photojournalist. Too often people only make photos when they feel inspired or when the weather is nice. It is about learning and personal growth. Sharpening your powers of observation and then igniting creativity to create something out of nothing. It is also the ability to make a good photo that can stand on it’s own without relying on a bunch of editing to prop it up. Time Stamp is also about sharing how you feel about the situations/subjects you discover.

Rules:
• Standard Mobitog image rules apply. Images must be captured/created & edited entirely on a mobile device such as a mobile phone or tablet. Please see the Rules and Guidelines for MobiChallenges posted HERE
• All images must be photographed and edited between 2:00pm to 2:20pm, local time. Any editing must be done within that time frame. In other words, don't rely on extensive image manipulation or compositing. These things are allowed, but must be accomplished within the 20 minute window of opportunity. Better to concentrate on capturing a unique moment at 2pm.
• In addition to the regular (up to) 3 images, you are now allowed to post one additional image, if you want, to help "set the scene". This image should be described as "to set the scene" or "setting the scene", or "the location" or something similar.
• You are free to photograph something actually happening, or nothing happening, or make something happen, or to create your own image from scratch, as long as it and any added parts or layers are photographed within the 2:00 to 2:20pm window of opportunity.

Time Shift Exemption: This applies to special events happening outside the usual Time Stamp window. If you think the event is significant enough and that others would like to see it you can claim the Time Shift Exemption and move your 2pm to fit the event. Try not to overuse this loophole.

Post your images to this thread.

Closing date: entries must be posted no later than 2pm the following day (Sunday). You can post your images right away after making them but if you happen to be in a situation where this is not possible, you have 24 hours.

• Have some creative fun!

Time Stamp is hereby declared an acronym-free zone.

Tips on setting alarms: you can use the Calendar app to set 2 alerts. I like to set the first alert 1 hour ahead in case I have completely forgotten (where's my phone!)(my battery is dead). The second alert I set 15 minutes ahead so I can get ready. You can create a second event at the same time for more alerts! Maybe set your alarm clock to go off right at 2pm to make you jump. Set another alarm to let you know when your time is up.

If you would like to join in the fun, just post a message below saying "I'm in!"

Another new/old avatar. I think this was my first camera. 620 roll film. My dad’s old camera. I learned about shutter speeds and apertures with this camera. I still have it but not some of my other early cameras.
I remember my next camera, an early 126 instamatic, I got for 50 cents plus 2 box tops from shredded wheat. It made good enough pictures except I kept trying to do close-ups and it wouldn’t focus close. I can only wonder what would have happened if I had had a camera capable of making in-focus close-ups back then.
Later, when I did get a camera that could focus close-up I didn’t make any pictures of subjects farther away than 2 feet for the first couple of years I had the camera. I even taped a magnifying glass on the lens to get closer.

I’m smiling because my friend’s younger sister was standing about 12 feet away taking a picture of me as I was taking a picture of her. I got the picture from her about 40 years later. I think I was about 12 at the time of the picture. She also made the picture of me with their dog (my previous avatar). She would have been 10 or 11. Kids are doing this sort of thing all the time with cellphones these days. Nothing new under the sun.
While visiting my brother recently in Montreal, he generally doesn’t react to picture taking, but once or twice while we were canoeing, they’re we were taking pictures of each other with our cellphones. Kids.

What? Am I first poster this week?
Out and about in our yard looking for something interesting to photograph. The more you look the more there is to find.

I was working at an event today, and was thrilled to discover RuPaul’s Dragcon was in the building too! :mobibabe: But....... wah wah I didn’t get any fun images because we were on a different level and work was insanely crazy. As we were leaving I saw a few interestingly dressed participants but there wasn’t a good opportunity to make a photo and not look like I was some tourist who’d never seen a drag queen before.

As Great Luck would have it, at 2:00pee-em I was in the looooooog-ass line for the women’s bathroom (why??? why??? women!! just get in, pee and leave! There’s never a line for the men’s room cuz They Know How To Do It Properly.)

My DH and I are guardians for a lovely young man who is at school in the UK while his parents live in Hong Kong. He is very lucky to be at a fantastic school called Wellington College and I got there for 1pm to bring him home for his weekend exeat (a British term for weekend leave) which lasts until 9pm on Monday night.

As I knew that I would be on the road at 2pm I brought Timestamp forward and all these pics were between 1 and 1.20. There are no edits and were done in rather a rush.

The College was opened in 1859 by Queen Victoria and started off with 79 boys. It was named after Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, Field Marshall and twice Prime Minister who died in 1852.

I kicked myself afterwards that I didn’t get a full image of the main buildings because they are very impressive. It is now a school for both boys and girls.

This building is part of the Music School. I picked it because of the wonderful spiral staircase on the outside.

Hey, men can do it no time because they just have to unzip. We have to put our bag somewhere, half undress, maybe need to find something in the bag (and there are always black holes when you need something urgently – and those in relationships have half the stuff of their partners in it, too!!!), do what you need, dress back again, get your bag, get out, wash hands. No wonder men are quicker.

It’s the last weekend in September and you’ll find me where? Right, at the Technical Museum at Speyer.

Diagon Alley also had a table there with many Potter related things, but opposite was another that had a great invention, at least I’ve never seen this before: Shoulder dragons! Really cute and available in all colours. I was very tempted, but I was strong this time. They come in two sizes you can choose from and you decorate them around your shoulder. They sit there because they are beanies and quite heavy. They had also other steampunk stuff, but this was just fabulous! Here is the shop girl wearing one.

I just love this place. With all kinds of Oldtimers from trains to cars, boats and planes it’s a kind of perfect set for a sci-fi convention.
I was there the fourth year now and still found places I’ve never been before, like the maritime hall with fleets of ships (just models of maybe 1:100?). And this time I climbed the stairs to see the Boing from the inside and another smaller plane. It was so worth going! But don’t do that slightly drunk or worse. The planes were tilted on both axis and in the small one the windows were covered, hell! Your sense of balance hours nuts!

It’s amazing how you find these wonderful events to visit. And then combined with a sci-fi convention. Great fun. The dressed-up people seemed quite happy to pose for you.

Maybe if you saw the men’s loo you might think they should take a bit more time. At least aim more carefully. Some men are rather untidy and make a mess for those who follow later. How can that be considered a manly statement?

Hah, well the ladies have clearly worn a hole by the basin and there isn’t even a mirror there . Guaranteed there isn’t such a hole in the men’s loo.
I guess it’s true men don’t spend much, if any, time looking in the mirror in the washroom but somehow they make a mess anyhow. If it weren’t for the regular clean-up staff it wouldn’t be fit to go in there. I hope they are not so untidy at home.

No wonder men are quicker.
That's true, for many cases, but I am a very zippy in-and-out in 2 minutes type of person - I don't carry a bag, and if I did it would only contain my wallet, iPhone and a lip balm. :mobibabe: I have used the men's room (only if it's a single occupancy loo) MANY times over the years.
