Met up with my goddaughter in the park. We had a pretty good time with tea and biscuits.

Back to Pepper’s Mint. This year it hosted some new critters: greenflies. And just the day before I thought: “I wish I’d had a ladybird larvae to place there.” Today I found one on the back rest of my chair on the balcony. I put it gently onto Pepper’s Mint (picture - also recon the greenflies!) and some minutes later it got to work.

*** Update on Pepper’s Mint: today there is another larvae that came from out of nowhere! I baptised them Thing 1 and Thing 2 as they look identically. :)

Thing 1 curls up to build its cocoon (top) while Thing 2 is still hunting (bottom). And they did a great job. Nearly no more greenflies.

Later I went to the exhibition at the Art Foyer at the DZ Bank: “unresistable historic streams” with 12 photographically works by Katherina Sieverding. I liked the one on the left best.

Because that was not enough I decided to go into the city to see the exhibition at the Städel: “en passant – Impressionism in sculpture”

And the main featured bronze by Degas “Little Ballerina of 14 years”. There are only 29 of these 98 cm high girls. The origin (1881) was made of wax with real hair and dress. The bronze girls are still wearing real dresses and a bow on the ponytail. On an auction in London someone bid 18 MILLION Euros!

I forgot whom did this bust, but I love the picture. :)

I wasn’t aware it’s already late so I couldn’t see everything when the museum closed …

… so I went back the next day to finish the experience.

I always thought they are in their cocoon and this is it. But it’s not. Every now and then they did some bug yoga, means they lifted the complete thing up in the air and dropped it back. All I’m kinda slow motion. Very interesting.

Thing 1 (top) in its old cocoon, Thing 2 in its new one, you see its much lighter …

I’m so focused on the ladybirds that I forgot to take another picture. But I’m totally fascinated. :) so here another and very unspectacular one of Thing 1 and 2 (right).

The sun painted the buildings golden. It looked so beautiful and surreal. Though the iPhone couldn’t get the scene satisfying enough Hipstamatic Classic made it at least possible to catch a bit of the mood.

those exhibits are in English?
Often German AND English. Depends on the size of the museum. The more famous the museum the better chance to have both languages. (But meanwhile I guess it’s 80%. Would make no sense in the museum of caricature, as the jokes presented there are 98% German … :D

Happy birthday, Thing 1!!!!!
Missed its “coming out” obviously by some hours because you can already see some dots and the abandoned cocoon on the left. Saw this at quarter to 3pm. Suppose it was reborn around 8 or 9 am. But isn’t it cute?

At 6:10 pm the dots were sharp and dark.

I didn’t expect it today, more the next or even later, but at least I was watching it earlier (was taking pictures of Thing 1 happily crawling over “Pepper’s Mint” at 10:40 am) though I again missed the best part. Took the first at picture at 12:13 pm and scared that poor thing off from beside its cocoon to hide under another leaf. Nevertheless:
Happy birthday Thing 2!!!
Taken at 3:33 pm it’s still busy storing his transparent wings under the hard chitin ones.

Can you believe it!? Thing two is a black one!!!!
How high are the chances? I think if it’s high –maybe 10% of the harlequin ladybirds are black, but I think it is far less. They are so rare! And I have two guests in my plant showing the two kinds of their kind. :inlove:

6th – again, because I have to remember the day I recovered my 15 year old and nearly never used bike and gave it to the bike shop for renewing the tires, checking the lights, crack the locks I can’t find the keys for anymore … Well, the picture shows the queue before the bike shop.

Thing 2 again still on the other plant, but it went back to Pepper’s Mint in the evening.

Thing 1 was still there in the morning but off in the evening, so a “lonely” Thing 2 was left.

Last shot of Thing 2 was a kind of farewell picture. Though it was still there in the morning it was gone soon after. Now I need to find other things to focus my camera on. Like this house and Hipstamatic’s magic changing it to something I pretty like.

Happy birthday to me with taking my parents out for a meal at our favourite Thai, because the have Mom’s and Dad’s day. This is the way WE celebrate it since I was 12. They get a thank you gift s as well. Therefore we skip the usual Mother’s and Father’s Day. :D And this would be even better if you have more children! ;)
