Hi all! I used to hang out here at Mobitog pretty regularly but it’s been a few or more years. Haven’t been too invested in making images. Pulled out of social media for quite a while to find my center again. Dipping the feet back in. Retired last December; like putting on a pair of nice old slippers ;-) Studied contemplative photography with Miriam Hall via Miksang Photography. Looking forward to connecting with you!

I’ve read about contemplative photography, i think it was about taking time to learn about what you see in the first moment(s) of seeing something before actually recognising what you see. There was a webpage about it somewhere.
I kinda liked the idea but then thought how it could have its downsides, like when your trying to grab that one moment of someone in a street shot for example. Hesitation is the enemy of opportunity in that genre. I think I came across it when I was reading a little of Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Welcome back! I've run across contemplative photography but never followed it up and flew off into some other direction. (I tend to do that. So many things to try out!) Was it something brand new for you or something enhancing what you were already doing? Looking forward to it either way.

The MobiTog Community is set out in four main areas or sections:

Community
Here we welcome everyone, post announcements and take in your suggestions and comments.

Image Sharing
Self-explanatory and broken down into sub-sections clearly named to make it easy to find a topic of your choice. It is here that you post your images.

Mobitography Discussion
For general conversations and discussions about all things mobile photography related.

Members Area
An exclusive MobiMembers-only section. Feel free to discuss things with other members - and find out about Top Secret stuff not for public consumption!

Important note: Please remember that only images originated on a mobile device (iOS or Android) can be posted to this community. No pictures created on a DSLR or compact camera are allowed.

Handy Tip: At the top of the site you'll see "New Posts", and clicking/tapping on it will take you to all the unread new posts that occurred since your last visit. Note: If there's just too many there to deal with, and you're really anal like me you can go up to the top and select "Mark Discussions Read" - and choose just a specific area to 'clear out', for example App Discussions, or choose all discussions which will clear everything and allow you to sort of 'start fresh'. That way the next time you go into New Posts, there will just be the most recent posts since you "erased" everything.

Also when you hover over your username in the very top right, you have an option to choose "Ignore New Posts", and select any forums/discussions that you DON'T want to show up.

FUN STUFF!!
We have lots of great challenges to help hone your skills and have loads of fun doing it, like JillyG Jilly's Black & White Challenge, and for the color-minded we have MobiColor, zenjenny Jen’s outside-the-box APPstract Challenge, and lots more. Check them out in our Competitions & Challenges forum!!

We also have some wonderful on-going Community "drop-ins", like Sign Spotting, Shadow Selfies, Found Faces, MobiTattoos
;)
, Our Grandchildren, Our Pets, and The MobiCafe.

Lastly, if you have any questions on anything at all be sure to give us a shout out!

Thanks for the tour Catherine. Quite a lot of options! Gonna take my time and the *365 felt like a good place to start.

Good for you Star! Lockdown w/Covid and my already p.t job getting cut in half (24 to 12) hours per week and I thought, "Hey this is nice." When we went back to regular hours I realized I was done, so it was a nice weening from working to living the rest of my life. Kinda like putting on a pair of old snuggly slippers ;-)

If I wanted to share a bit about Miksang and how one could utilize the concepts when using their "I"-device, where would be the appropriate place for that?
Go here (Mobitog Lounge) and select ‘post thread’. You can give your thread a title, post an image for its front page and start the discussion !
