I'm so glad this topic area is here. These tutorials are so much better than the "official" ones. Have you noticed that the vast majority of the so-called tutorial videos in apps are completely useless. The key place they fail is in selecting tools or options in the process sequence.
Since there isn't any explanatory narration telling you what is being done (just annoying fast music) you have to watch the whole screen trying to anticipate where the next action will take place.
There, something just happened down there. Your eye goes down to see what it was but a selection was made at hyper speed and by the time your eye shifts down the selection is gone and there is nothing there to see any more. Too frustrating.
A selection needs to be held long enough for the eye to register the movement and then go there and still have time to read what the selection is before the disembodied finger is released from the selection and the whole pop-up panel disappears.
The person making the video needs to keep in mind the viewer is constantly trying to follow and catch up to the action. Selections made too fast just break the connection and eliminate the possibility of anyone being able to follow the steps.
I have seen in a couple of good videos where an arrow would appear leading your eye to where the selection was about to be made BEFORE it is made. That really makes sense.
