Hello all - im Bill and looking forward to talking mobile photos! After hearing that Instagram is moving towards 'entertainment' rather than photo sharing I am gearing up to ditching the platform very shortly, so I am looking for somewhere to share sensible ideas!

Hi Bill, always glad to see new blood on Mobitog, this a great platform for all things mobile and yeah we like to talk :)

I'll just say, Mobitog can be a bit confusing to start, but if your persevere you will be rewarded! Just shout up if there's something that you don't understand, there's always someone around.

What sinnerjohn John said, and others will be along shortly with welcomes and more info on how to navigate the site.

Thanks Geek, Sinnerjohn and Starzee - it is a bit hard to navigate, especially when i'm bouncing between phone and pc! Ill get there.
I confess I nearly always use a pc when viewing Mobitog, makes things a lot easier, just use the phone when uploading. You just have to work out which threads interest you.
Unless you are doing a 365 the most action is around the Weekly Challenges (but they mostly last 2 weeks now  ) both b/w and colour.

For one reason or another the more categorised threads i.e. Nature, People, Still Life etc don't get as many adds as they could, but they do appear on the front page.

I was sneaking in some action at work today, on the pcs, which is why I made so many newbie errors. Ill be a bit more restrained in future and make sure I read all the fine print!

Thanks for the warm welcome Venomator! Ive had a brief lurk about over the last few weeks, which is why I decided to join in. I'm really looking forward to talking mobi-photography and seeing whats possible, as well as receiving feedback and criticism on my work. Instagram is all well and good, but without any kind of constructive comment, I can't move forward. The lockdown in the UK has seriously inhibited my passion for photography generally, as its been impossible to get out and practice, so I am in serious need of some like minded individuals to share ideas with!

Hiya Nick - im in sunny Lancashire!
I'm in West Yorkshire. We hear "things!" about Lancashire over here.

That seems to have been the experience of most of the people on Mobitog too, where ever they are in the world. It's probably the main reason why the weekly challenges ended up being moved to a bi-weekly pattern. Hopefully as things loosen up a bit we'll all get out and about more often.

Welcome to MobiTog  Good stuff you've posted so far. As John said, most of the daily action is in the MobiColour and B/W challenges. MobiColour usually has a theme (B/W doesn't), so you might want to start a thread of your own for the miscellaneous stuff that doesn't fit elsewhere. Here's a few that have been running for a while:

terse fragments
sinnerjohn's cabinet of curiosities
zenjen's wreckages
On my walk... The things you see
Jerry's Catch-All

Ive had a look at your fragments and a few if the other galleries, glorious stuff. Trouble is, I don’t want to appear to be bombarding the forums with my stuff! Ill start small and work up.

Well, you're talking to a guy who posted 16 images in a previous B/W round without quite realizing it.:lmao:

I started my fragments thread because I was piling up so many color shots that never seemed to fit the MobiColour themes. Plus I've never been crazy enough had the courage to do a 365, so the thread also makes a sort of history of what I've been doing.

I definitely think Rizole's Over Exposed belongs on the list. Interesting images from the Huawei P40pro.

Here's some information that might prove useful as you find your way around:

At the bottom right on any page you'll see “Help” - click on that and it will bring you to our detailed help section. You can also click this link: https://mobitog.com/help/

Visit our "How Do I..." forum, where you'll find all sorts of tips and tricks to help you find your way around more easily: How Do I...

The MobiTog Community is set out in four main areas or sections:

Community
Here we welcome everyone, post announcements and take in your suggestions and comments.

Image Sharing
Self-explanatory and broken down into sub-sections clearly named to make it easy to find a topic of your choice. It is here that you post your images.

Mobitography Discussion
For general conversations and discussions about all things mobile photography related.

Members Area
An exclusive MobiMembers-only section. Feel free to discuss things with other members - and find out about Top Secret stuff not for public consumption!

Important note: Please remember that only images originated on a mobile device (iOS or Android) can be posted to this community. No pictures created on a DSLR or compact camera are allowed.

Handy Tip: At the top of the site you'll see "New Posts", and clicking/tapping on it will take you to all the unread new posts that occurred since your last visit. Note: If there's just too many there to deal with, and you're really anal like me you can go up to the top and select "Mark Discussions Read" - and choose just a specific area to 'clear out', for example App Discussions, or choose all discussions which will clear everything and allow you to sort of 'start fresh'. That way the next time you go into New Posts, there will just be the most recent posts since you "erased" everything.

Also when you hover over your username in the very top right, you have an option to choose "Ignore New Posts", and select any forums/discussions that you DON'T want to show up.

FUN STUFF!!
We have lots of great challenges to help hone your skills and have loads of fun doing it, like JillyG Jilly's Black & White Challenge, and for the color-minded we have MobiColor, zenjenny Jen’s outside-the-box APPstract Challenge, and lots more. Check them out in our Competitions & Challenges forum!!

We also have some wonderful on-going Community "drop-ins", like Sign Spotting, Shadow Selfies, Found Faces, MobiTattoos
;)
, Our Grandchildren, Our Pets, and The MobiCafe.

Lastly, if you have any questions on anything at all be sure to give us a shout out!

Don’t worry too much about “bombarding”… just jump in and have fun! Plus it’s always fun to see new member’s photos/styles. :)
