Hello from Somerset.

MobiPassionista
MobiSupporter
Real Name
Nick Lancaster
Device
iPhone 14 Pro Max
I have already posted a couple of photos in the latest Challenges and hope to do put more on the site. I am restricted in my ability to get around as I am a carer for my invalid Mother (24/7) and only have 8 or 9 hours per week care cover to get out and about. This includes the boring stuff like shopping and visits to the dentist etc., so my time for photography is limited.

However I live in South Somerset within 30minutes drive of places like Wells, Glastonbury, Cerne Abbas, Sherborne and a few more interesting places so I do get the chance of some decent pictures in good settings.

Besides using my iPhone I also use a couple of Olympus OM-D cameras but my iPhone content is increasing as the quality has developed - iPhone 4 (useable but never blew me away), 5c (I began to understand the potential) 7 (excellent - suddenly I was relying on this phone a lot) XS (brilliant in my opinion, the dual lenses increase the potential enormously for me).

I have an Instagram account - nickleon444 - which is about 50:50 iPhone and Olympus OM-D, please take a look if you wish.
Apologies for being long-winded with this. Also as my time is limited/often disrupted I apologise in advance if I post anything incorrectly as I tend to scan the small print rather quickly!

Not long-winded at all Nick - it’s a lovely introduction. I know how time-consuming, and sometimes strength-sapping, looking after a parent can be. You’re a wonderful son for devoting yourself to you mum. We will appreciate your photographs even more now, knowing that your time is limited in the taking. Don’t worry about posting incorrectly, everything can be sorted by the Mobi Faeries - they’re marvellous.:D

The MobiTog Community is set out in four main areas or sections:

Community
Here we welcome everyone, post announcements and take in your suggestions and comments.

Image Sharing
Self-explanatory and broken down into sub-sections clearly named to make it easy to find a topic of your choice. It is here that you post your images.

Mobitography Discussion
For general conversations and discussions about all things mobile photography related.

Members Area
An exclusive MobiMembers-only section. Feel free to discuss things with other members - and find out about Top Secret stuff not for public consumption!

Important note: Please remember that only images originated on a mobile device (iOS or Android) can be posted to this community. No pictures created on a DSLR or compact camera are allowed.

Handy Tip: At the top of the site in the orange bar you'll see "New Posts", and clicking/tapping on it will take you to all the unread new posts that occurred since your last visit. Note: If there's just too many there to deal with, and you're really anal like me you can go up to the top and select "Mark Discussions Read" - and choose just a specific area to 'clear out', for example App Discussions, or choose all discussions which will clear everything and allow you to sort of 'start fresh'. That way the next time you go into New Posts, there will just be the most recent posts since you "erased" everything.

Also when you hover over your username in the very top right, you have an option to choose "Ignore New Posts", and select any forums/discussions that you DON'T want to show up.

We have lots of great challenges to help hone your skills and have loads of fun doing it, like JillyG Jilly's Black & White Challenge, and for the color-minded we have MobiColor, a fun group challenge Elements of Surprise (EOS), the Hipstamatic Magic Challenge, just to name a few. Check them out in our Competitions & Challenges forum!!

Lastly, if you have any questions on anything at all be sure to give us a shout out!

Hi Nick, and welcome! Glad you’ve joined us. I have vague memories of Somerset as a kid - my stepfather was one of the war children billeted in the dairy (?) farms there. Look forward to seeing some images of Somerset in the 21C :)
Thank you for the welcome. There is still plenty of dairy farming here, though less than there used to be for economic reasons. I see you are in Australia; I have an old school friend living in Sydney and she is a keen iPhone photographer posting regularly on Instagram as li_bby. I must tell her about Mobitog.

Welcome Nick,

You’ll enjoy the community here... great photos, good people.

Stay well

Hey Nick, welcome to this fabulous community of relaxed photography nerds! There is no wrong posting here! I have nearly the same settings as you - and I am also an OM-D user.
Sometimes I post, sometimes not. Always depends on what I see and if I have the time to take snaps.

Best, Tom
