Mobi365 ImageArt's Project 365 - 2019

001 - 1st Jan 2019 - THEME FOR JANUARY - A piece of art a day

I wanted to start with macros but then I figured this would be better in Spring or Summer. So for the coldest month of the year, playing with art indoors sounded the way to go.

Oooh, I’m really looking forward to this - a piece of art a day! Loving it already.

What a treat for the rest of us :inlove: especially if you *cough* include the occasional mini-how-i-did-that-tutorial :inlove: :inlove:

:lmao: We’ll all keep each other going.

And if you don’t, we have our MobiCouch (not to be confused with MobiLounge) with our resident psychoanalyst:

 Well, maybe just a couple of tips. I’m thinking of creating some online courses to get a bit of pocket money. Neither of us are working now and Tom’s pension doesn’t kick in for a couple of years. I have to have a way to feed my techie habit .

Today’s image was all in the name of experimentation. I am fascinated by making an image look 3D and I was looking through a book which gave me the idea of using a pattern on each layer which would have a 3D shape. The main app in all this was SuperImposeX but I used iColorama to create the initial layers which were then ‘cut’ in SuperImposeX. The patterns were all created using Patterns in Adobe Capture.

You have to be quite crafty to get the layers right. For example the grey silhouette layer is actually below the ant layer!

Okay, let me give you a peek into how this was initially done.
First I created a black silhouette of the ants (iColorama, Style>Threshold) which was square:

I went into SuperImposeX and put this on top of the pink pattern which was rectangle and masked out the black ants using the colour mask icon (looks like half a sun). I then went back to the layers and Cast a Shadow.

I then merged these layers into one. Under this layer I added the grey layer and removed the white using the Colour Mask tool. The threshold needs to be very low. The grey layer actually looks like it’s on top but it’s underneath!

I merged this layer and put another pink layer underneath and created the jagged edges. On top I added the leaves and the final layers were the flowers and wasp.

It doesn’t quite make a cohesive whole but then I was just adding odds and ends. One day I will find a use. I thought that it might make a fun border for an image. You take elements out of an image (where the pink is) and create a border with it.

Cool!

004 - Fri 4 Jan

I have a kids drawing app called Drawing Carl which has some nice patterns. This abstract was made using the patterns from it blended in iColorama with a colourful texture I had.

Here are the patterns from Drawing Carl. I had problems saving them so I just did a screen dump.
