Had nothing planned for today but had to get out in the lovely sun. I went to Heather Farm which is dog walking/wetlands area about 5 minutes by car, I think owned the local authority. The wetlands area could be so much better. It’s mainly full of stinging nettles along the paths and thistles or weeds. Anyhow, I stopped for a moment and noticed this little butterfly and luckily managed to get a shot before it fluttered off.

Another of my Overcam images taken on the train from Waterloo to London Bridge. The ‘frill’ at the top must have been something at the top of the window pane. It was actually black but I replaced it with the blue to make it less harsh. Probably should have just cropped it.

Sunday fun fact: That's called a frit band. It's a baked in ceramic that prevents the deterioration of the sealant due to UV and gives the sealant something to adhere to. It is graduated like that to prevent heat stress points developing during the manufacturing process.
That might not be a fun actually but it is a fact and it is Sunday. :appsir:

Hm's this week go to RoseCat for no trespassing, deepop for all his florals, terse for Teahouse of the COVID moon, NickLeon for Autumn is coming and ImageArt for Reflection of the train and city in the glass building.

3rd place this week goes to terse for A second look at Capitola-by-the-Sea (lovely flow to this) and even more so, At the sign of the fish head, abstract and surreal and a balanced reduced palette.

In second place is deepop with Profusion. Just beautiful and as sinnerjohn says, summer in a picture. Vibrant, bright, warm and like terse's fish head, just 3 colours in it more or less. Nearly won this week.

Nearly won but pipped to the post by sinnerjohn who, despite sometimes thinking he may have taken all the good pictures he's ever going to take and despite trying not to edit too much these days has won with an excellent group of diverse pics with some very interesting edits on some of them.
I'm unsure of my fav. Roots gets me for the textures, composition and treatment almost making it look like it's drawn or etched or something.
Throwback thursday is again, nicely composed and well edited too, a solid pic.
Our winning picture this week is Dogs.
LRM_20200826_143602.jpg

Oddly this is not my fav of John's submissions but I think there's so much to like in it and lots of good stuff all over the place that it's more objectively gooder (betterer?) than the others.
There's strong, formal geometric shapes throughout with intersecting whatsits both in the archetecture and hard landscaping and also in the hard lighting and shadows. Even the line of the paving next to the building lines up with the edge of the paving slab the top dog is standing on.
The detail is lovely and the complexity of the building balances out the relative simplicity of the foreground.
And then we have the dogs and the hedge which soften the whole thing off with naturalistic lines and curves. The progression of the dogs from bottom to top leads the eye back and forth with the top dog looking out the frame, almost leading your eye out with it, and then is the dog at the bottom having a poo? It all adds a touch of playfulness to a very formal setting.
Nice pic, well done sinnerjohn.

Many thanks rizole, I'm honoured :notworthy:
Hilariously, after making the comment about editing, Roots and Throwback Thursday are quite heavily edited  You all know I can be contrary by now! So which was your favourite rizole may I ask?
Congrats to terse and deepop and the host of HM's, a no theme week always brings out some diverse work.
p.s. I don't think anyone has ever written in so much detail about one of my images, I feel quite emotional, thank you.

Thanks for the third and HM and your kind words, rizole, especially for mentioning "Second look" which I just made a 19" wide print of because I liked it so much. Congratulations to John for the first, David for the second, and all the HMs.

As always rizole Rizole, an insightful, marvellous piece of judging. Congratulations to all, in particular sinnerjohn John with his winner(s). I’ve started off the new #230 challenge here: https://mobitog.com/threads/new-230-theme-animals-14-27-september-2020.24371/

Congrats to John and Ted and the HMS, and thanks for my showing.
I really enjoy reading your comments. I admire and appreciate your analytic skills which can or may articulate my mostly subconscious processes as to why I either compose a photo the way I do or enjoy someone else's photo.

I'm declaring this thread closed!
And incidently, should anyone care, the hex value for the mobitog orange is #F79522.
You are forever cracking me up. Someday, I will visit and we will hang out and I expect we'll laugh, a lot. Or at least I will. :D
