Aren’t they amazing — I don’t know if they’re the same family but those big cactus-y plants that suddenly shoot up these showy blooms.
Makes me think - I have heaps of agave and I don’t think I’ve seen one flower. Do all agave flower? (And if they do, why don’t mine? )

They do flower, but not often. (Hint: One agave is called the century plant.) When they do, they suddenly shoot up a tall stalk from the middle of the plant.
