Just wanted to post this self portrait of me wearing my new old spectacles! Bought them from a company called Historic Eyewear. Kind of pricey, but they can make them in plain glass, polarized, readers, and prescription lenses. The perfect accessory for SASS Members, or old west aficionado. Taken with iPadPro 10.5 inch. Native camera..no PP.

Cheers,
Unkei

Those are super cool!! I love the idea of recycling “old specs”. I think you look quite fashionable, actually. :appsir:

Hello again, David — nice to see you again! And your pricey antiquey new-Old West specs! They look very cool (digging the hexagonal frames). But I’ve no idea what SASS members means? Or what is the significance of these particular specs to you?

Hi jen,
SASS is the Single Action Shooting Society where people adopt an old west personae, dress the part, and participate in shooting sports.

I don’t belong or participate. I like shooting, but can’t quite get into the whole mandatory period correct costume requirement! The period underwear is a killer! LOL! As for the Spectacles, I am a history buff and these Spectacles are period correct without making me dress in costume. As a side note...Spectacles as they were known back then had legs to rest on your ears. Eyeglasses were either a single glass lens held in one eye by squinting, or half glasses held purely on nose without the legs. I just like the old timey look. I really like the octagonal or hexagonal frames. The website I purchased them from,
http://m.historiceyewearcompany.com/ has a lot of good information on period eyewear. Very informative for history buffs.
Cheers,
David

I have a friend who is involved with a civil war group. We’ve gone to a couple of the recreations. Very cool. I’ve never asked him about his under water, though.:lmao:
