MobiColour RESULT: #136 No Theme - Sept 3-9, 2018

Two-Striped Grasshopper - Melanoplus bivittatus
View attachment 113898

Fearsome plant predator. The plant it is perched on is Red Turtlehead in my ‘garden’. "Garden plants" in this context refers to plants that survive well in spite of neglect.
PureShot > Affinity, MaxCurve.
The detail is incredible!

Just returned from one of my favorite vacation spots: Mackinac Island in northern Michigan. This is the Grand Hotel, centerpiece of the movie “Somewhere in Time”. Taken while passing by in a horse-drawn carriage.

Garden produce cornucopia.

Photographed at the farmers’ market in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec. I can’t remember what app I originally used for the rendering (darn those apps that don’t identify themselves in metadata) but in this incarnation I used Affinity to blend about 20% of the original image with the rendered image.

What Ted said. Yes, Union has two layers plus a masking layer, and my go-to (because simple). Also as Ted says Diptic for panels/collages, some choice with colours and patterns. Autocollage is fun and has lots of choices for colour (including gradients). SketchClub is the best kept secret on the App Store as far as layering and overlapping is concerned.

GroovyGouvy and Lzed are Mobi’s pre-eminent app experts. ImageArt Starzee JillyG and I am probably the most manic committed image collages/layer-ers — they and others may have some tips for you....

And very best wishes for your birthday!
I think Ted and Jen have probably said what I would have said, Jef . I use iColorama for layering (only two layers at a time) but only because I know it so well and if you don’t I think Leonardo or Superimpose/X is quicker to learn and more specialised for layering. Adobe Mix is free and that does layering. Affinity Photo has a big learning curve. Fine if you decide that you want to invest the time in an app which is like Photoshop. I suggest one of the video courses on Udemy and long hours of practising...

Yeah. I visited my home town last fall after being away for almost 20 years. I stopped in front of the elementary school long enough to take a few pictures of the school to text to family. Kids were out on the playground (a looong wats from where I was). The kids were rushed inside, police summoned, and I was questioned about what I was doing. I get it, but it’s sad that that’s where we’re at these days.
I’ve got to tell you that it’s much easier being a woman. Everybody thinks you are photographing you’re grandkids! I went to a fairground and took loads of pics and nobody batted an eyelid.

Oh my goodness! This has happened to me! I feel for her, I really do. Well found Catherine.

We’ve ALL had it done to us. Isn’t it the first thing you do when you get home from the hairdressers. Wash your hair and see if you really like the cut?!
Yep.... I’ve experienced this many times.
