B&W RESULT: #170 Black & White Challenge

Do you know what this is? Looks like the same plant I posted to the colour thread last week.
It is the same, and I think Jilly's right (as usual). The PlantNet app IDs it as Leucojum aestivum and gives the common name Summer Snowflake (a bit odd since it appears here in late winter). We've been calling them snowdrops (Galanthus), but they're not. I expect we'll keep calling them snowdrops since the name is so apt even if it's wrong.

Has it all been too much Jef? I’m sure you’re doing a marvellous job and all the medical profession are heroes imo.

Not too much (most of the time), just a lot at times. Still mostly rewarding. The worst part is seeing the patients isolated from family and friends... going through a really scary thing alone. I've never been a more firm believer in the power of a smile and a kind word.

And thank you.

I didn't want to get preachy... but here goes. The photo isn't so much about me or healthcare workers or creating pity for anyone, it's what I see on so many faces right now, even outside the hospital - fear, isolation, a weight on every shoulder. I can hardly get anyone to smile or wave back to me if I say hello in the store, outside, etc... We ALL have a lot going on and many are fighting a brave fight in their homes, at the store or office, in their own mind... everywhere.

I guess what I want to say is: it's ok to feel burdened, but it's also ok to be vulnerable and admit it. My prayer then, is that we can help lift each other, understanding we're all going through this together. Miracles happen by reaching out in small ways.

Wonderfully said Jef. :notworthy: :inlove: I think it’s really important to know that nobody is alone in all of this. There are huge numbers of people who are more than happy to help in any way possible. Just ask.

Beautiful image and meaning. I have many friends from med school who are front line at the moment, including a friend who has a 6-year-old and a 1-year-old girls, who she left with her parents since it’s not safe for her to be coming back home and possibly passing covid19 on to her parents, who usually stay with the girls when both her and her husband are working (husband non-medical, but still working from home). It’s just heartbreaking the sacrifices some of us are having to make, but it is indeed for the greater good, and part of our oath :inlove: I’m a specialist, but will likely be called to work in hospitals if things here get worse, as has happened in other countries.
Yes, it is ok to be overwhelmed. And it is also ok to set boundaries and to take care of yourself. We are all humans, even though sometimes health professionals (regardless of the type of degree) think that we are slightly super human :) thank you for your work and anytime you need to vent or something support, we’ll all be here for you:thumbs:

I know I’m struggling when I take a photo of a tree and a wood product (as in telegraph pole)...

I think it’s a really interesting image. “The tree and what the tree could become” sort of thing. I like it.

Beautifully said, Jef. And so true. ❤️❤️❤️
