Soooo, they’re called freckles in Australia are they? I used to like the white chocolate ones like these. Interesting theme. Thought-provoking, which is good.

A bee was on our kitchen surface today. I could see it was dabbing it's proboscis on the surface where I'd not long wiped up but there couldn't have been many calories left there so I made some sugar water. My youngest was concerned we look after it and said I couldn't drown it when he saw what I was doing. (We drown the odd flea we get from the cats.)

Makes me happy because last year he would have wanted me to kill it. He's losing his fear of bees :).

When I was 9 or 10, I was totally in love with David Cassidy. I had every Partridge Family album, watched the TV show religiously, belonged to their fan club, and had a subscription to Tiger Beat magazine and pored over any issue with David in it. I kept the albums for many years, but somewhere in the ‘90s they’ve disappeared. One day walking in Manhattan I bumped into this at a street fair. Seeing it just made me happy.

(And so what if I still remember [and like  ] all the songs, and watch re-runs of the Partridge Family, singing along, loudly?? :mobibabe:)

According to Wikipedia. Nonpareils is the name for the little sugar balls that coat the chocolate. It also gets used for the candy too but that's more accurately called a chocolate nonpareils.

I had to do some reading be fore I commented anything, because I have not heard of them before. But after a lesson from google and YouTube, I’m pretty sure I heard at least that “I think I love you” before. Very colourful record, and what about that bus???

I could sing along with you without missing a line :D My muso DH says I’m tone deaf or can’t hold a tune or some other grave insult — but I know all the beats and pauses and [the incredibly intricate] chorus lines and the [ditto] fadeout endings . . . :p

    Habitat.
    183B430D-7BB4-43DC-8C0A-DDB2D7EFEE66.jpeg
1982. I first found our piece of land by noticing where the fog ended and the sunshine began (it’s a long story). A nice south facing slope, long ago farmland, now grown up and mostly wooded with some mature spruce and fir, but some clear area closer to the road, and a pretty nice view. It was perfect in every respect except you needed to wear rubber boots everywhere because it was so wet. The native plants included several wet ground plants such as these Small Blue Flag Irises blooming gloriously. However, there were also several well established plants, shrubs and trees that would not choose to be in wet ground. I took stock of the anomalies and asked a more knowledgeable friend for an opinion about the plants and their natural habitats. It never would have been farm land if it had always been so wet. We came to the conclusion that the wet condition was fairly recent - 5 or so years. Looking farther around I realized the neighbour’s house uphill was also fairly recent. I found that before they built their house they cut a ditch across the hill above their house site to catch the water running from various springs and diverted it to the edge of their property, directly uphill from the Iris patch. It was a bit of a gamble but we bought the upper corner 5 acres from a 25 acre parcel, and the very first thing I did was have a ditch made all along the property line to catch the runoff water from the neighbour’s place. Within a couple of weeks we could see the land getting back to normal. Shortly afterwards we started the basement foundation of our new house. There are still some places where the irises grow naturally and they remind me of the founding story of our house.
