sinnerjohn's cabinet of curiosities

It never does :)

Saudade could also be translated as “longing”, or when you miss someone or something. I believe there’s no translation to saudade I’m any other language. Unique to us Portuguese speakers :)
I believe us Welsh ppl have a similar word for this……

meaning of hiraeth
It is a mixture of longing, yearning, nostalgia, wistfulness or an earnest desire for the Wales of the past.

Thanks for sharing that. As I said I am of Welsh heritage, my family and I are proud of it, but alas we are in the US. I am grateful for all you share.

Love it - shame I didn't know that word when I was writing poetry.

!n fact, heres one I prepared earlier on the subject:

'Save the Wales'

The joneses having been left behind
as the industrial estuary bloats
A concrete stent forced through the head
neatly trepanning the prominence
commerce’s darning suture drawn tight
all the way to the Druids Isle.
Channelling traffic along the coast
past the empty beaches and shuttered shops
vacant castles and the rusty rides.
Eire beckons coyly from the sleek flanks
of seacats ferrying tourists away from this
once mystic land, to a new Celtic frontier
waiting to be diluted and tamed by a commodifying tide.
Wales has withdrawn to the hills
treasures stowed in caves of slate
as her borders and byways are blurred and absorbed.
Not by covetous kings or expanding nations
but by the hand of bannered modernity
with conquering flags branded across the land like sheep.
Longbowmen raise fingers in defiance
yew hewn and gut strung
shouldered aside by concrete crennelations.
Dry stoned and graffiti decorated
As the expressway glides by,
services one mile.

Very impressive indeed.

Thats pretty impressive to be fair. Not too sure about the conquering flags bit but if it is ok with you im gonna print this off.
I'd be very flattered. Its written in response to the A55 Expressway built along the coast, which bypasses Rhyl and Prestatyn etc. I loved that area as a kid. The 'conquering flags' is a reference to advertising hoardings and commodification, rather than uppity english invaders!

Born to be mild - LRM a reflection

What do we think about frames/borders? I like a nice frame, although you have to click the image to see the white ones. Adds to the printed/vintage look, or just a cheap gimmick?
I prefer no border, unless it’s something grungy and tiny.

I like borders/frames. This looks great with a frame. I usually put a black and white frame around some of my images, because people tend not to click on them to see them against the black background. But it makes such a difference if you do.

The reflection almost makes it look like two seperate colour profiles. I thought you did a double exposure thingie at first. And ooooh, if only i had the guts to ride a bike. My dog would love some goggles and hat to go on adventures

Just a reflection :) I rode a motorcycle for years, the second Mrs Sinnerjohn won't let me near one now though
