You missed my favorite Pumpkin Hook!! I never did hear about the name when I was a kid. I just thought it was cool. When the fire departments marched in the field day parades they all had t shirts with Egypt Camel Drivers on them.
There are quite a few recycled town names around where I live now, too. Rome, Mexico, Troy, Syracuse and Utica To name a few. I guess us “New” Yorkers lack imagination.And there’s an Upsala in Minnesota and another Upsala in Ontario
I am not surprised to hear that there is an Upsala in Minnesota. I understand there is a large Swede population there.

Mine had a dent in the left front fender also. I started with a VW bus but eventually the transmission wore out -- too tough to fix and too expensive to replace -- so I bought the bug without an engine and swapped in the engine from the bus. Those things were so easy to work on.
The bug had been painted brownwith a brush

My brother still drives a green VW bus in Alaska.
