The Dutch mostly settled down state in the Catskills. I think the ‘kill’ suffix is Dutch. If the Van Dynes named the Spoor they were the lone Dutch. The village it’s in is Savannah. Nearby roads are Carnecross, Morgan rd., Bixby rd. and 39 rd. The village that surround it are Port Byron, Clyde, Wolcott and Seneca Falls. Of course villages change names. I have a lovely pair of binoculars that I never bring…. And I like to see who’s walking toward me if I’m on the canal trail. I‘m sure it will be handy for that.

We drove out to Cayuga Lake to see the newest addition to our Erie Canal Museum. It’s just out of town and has an entrance from the Thruway to invite visitors. I have no idea how they plan to get this canal boat from the lake to currently land locked Port Byron. It’s huge. Well, long anyway.

Nope, new snow tires already in place, winter clothes in the closet. For a month now. I lived here a llloooonnnnggg time. It would have to snow in July to get the jump on us!

We have been watching these eagles for a few days. They are carrying big sticks and small limbs to this tree. We speculate they are building a nest. Eagles lay their eggs in February.

I love this. As often we are experiencing something similar. Huge flocks of whopper swans have gathered in the nearby fields. They are constantly talking to each other. We thought the swans had migrated to the south long ago.
