Transferring Music from iPhone to iMac

When I synced my iPhone 7 Plus to my late 2009 recently restored iMac, only 400+ of the 1,000+ songs transferred over. I found this application online - iExplorer - and wonder if anyone has used it? It seems "legit" and "safe"... but I like to check here first at MobiTog before trying these types of things.

In the new iTunes 12.7 (that's what you're using?), you back up your phone same as always. Although you can't manage apps on your phone through iTunes any more, it still backs up apps the same way during a sync or a manual backup:

For app file sharing, you should now see a File Sharing item in the lefthand sidebar when your phone is mounted:

Yes, it sure seems like there should be a way to do it through iTunes -- drag&drop or something -- but if there is, I don't see it.
