Migration pause

The last few days flocks with hundreds of whooper swans have gathered in the fields nearby. I just learned on Wiki that the Swedish whoopers don’t go south in the winter - I have been wrong all my life  Instead they go to ice free waters for ex the Baltic Sea, which is the closest sea for our region.

Shot with iPhone 15 Pro Max. I asked my husband to take some swan photos with both of our phone and also with his Nikon. I don't know if he did any further zooming with this photo. When I asked him he looked completely blank. I regret not going with him on his swan walk ;)

Not much light in this. Shot at 3 pm - 45 minutes before sunset

We hear them as soon as we go out. They are ”talking” continuously. Perhaps they are discussing whether they should fly towards the sea or if they should stay in this nice place for a while

Bamboo changing colour

I love when the bamboo has both summer and autumn leaves at the same time. And yes, the stem (or whatever it’s called is purple - had never noticed that before :)

No wonder people are leaving

Signs with House for Sale are popping up at a faster pace than ever before. Not very surprising. With the costs for electricity and gas skyrocketing and the interest rates going up all the time. Many young people have taken huge loans for buying a house when the rent was almost zero. Now they can’t afford it. And then there’s also the deforestation issue that makes people leave.

Murder investigation

Found a dead hen on my walk 2 days ago. Checked today and it’s still on the same spot. It looks quite tidy except for being very dead. We guess a fox have snatched it from Noisy Neighbours’ place. Their hens are the only ones we klow of around here. Still kind of a mystery. The victim is lying 1,5km / 0,9 mile away from our houses. Why would the fox bother to drag the hen all that way and then just leave it there ? Today I saw an eagle close to the spot. Could the eagle be the guilty one? Dropped it by mistake and now searching for it?

I like mysteries that spice up a dark and cold November day

Forensics have arrived, securing evidence

I was going to comment that I couldn’t see the images in your post, but they popped right up in my reply. We often find dead moles on our walks, and I wonder why they were killed but not eaten. Strange.
