Sort of a general observation re: digital cameras

This is good to know. The HDR I've seen always looks overprocessed. To have the option to use it subtly so it doesn't scream HDR works better for my taste, I'll have to play with it a little.

I haven't played with the film and other lenses, but I did stumble upon (via random setting) a black and white film (Arjan) in combination with this new lens. This is a woman who was sitting next to me on my commute this morning. No edits. Shot as is. Kind of interesting, right? To me, there are...

Interesting, though it makes my head "hurty," as Rosecat said above. One thing that is mentioned in article 2 (I think), and is good to remember, is something that I also recall a person in another mobile photography community mentioning long ago: "Digital cameras are designed to mimic color...

Sort of a general observation re: digital cameras

I think it depends on the kind of photography you are doing (e.g. scientific vs. photojournalistic vs. nature vs. artistic) - but ultimately an image is not reality, it's an echo of it, and it's influenced by both the camera and the eye of the person shooting. The idea that a photo can replicate...

I think it's pretty. At least in interiors with natural light. It seems like something from an old family album, hand painted and deteriorated (old film fetish! FundyBrian). The only thing I wish about this border though is that it could change a little with every shot. Maybe that's too...

I've tried ameraC- wait, it's aremaC - it's pretty cool but the interface was a bit cumbersome, at least when I was using it. I'll look again, maybe they've updated since I tried it. ...

Oh yes, LOVE Decim8. And have found some other fascinating glitch apps too, one of which you can actually use your finger to control the effects - Glitche, not a new app but it's gotten a facelift recently and works pretty nicely. And yes, Kitcamera is great for live filters, one of my favorite...

Sort of a general observation re: digital cameras

HAHAHA! I have a Diana camera but despite all my best efforts, and really my lack of time - which is why I got into digital in the first place, you know, young kids, a job... - I still haven't done as much film as I want to. I even got a toy twin lens reflex last year which I constructed myself...

Sort of a general observation re: digital cameras

Haha! Yeah, there's a fetish for that "bad film" look. You'd think they'd do the opposite, go for the "bad pixel" look. I remember when grunge style photos were big, and I came into the app thing later than most of the people in the community I learned from. The other thing is the 19th century...

Sort of a general observation re: digital cameras

Well true, not a generation haha! I guess I'm talking about young photographers I've watched on Tumblr, Flickr, Instagram, and articles that promote film over digital on various blogs. But yeah, the percentage of people pursuing that is much smaller than those using digital, even though the...

Sort of a general observation re: digital cameras

Well on a fashion note, my husband and I saw a young woman today, and I said "Man, her top is the '70s," and my husband says, "Yeah but her jeans are the '80s. She's getting her decades mixed up." But yeah, she had no direct baggage anyway from those eras, so it looked fresh to her, whereas to...

Sort of a general observation re: digital cameras

Fascinating - again thanks Fundy Brian for this reply, another bookmark! Don't you think it's funny though, that there is a whole generation of youngins who are fascinated by film, even though it's a relic in their time, and shoot only in film? It's an aesthetic choice in the end, right? That...

No no, Philippe - I just meant to narrow the conversation to speaking about ISO with regard to film in this conversation. I'm good with OSI! :D

Sort of a general observation re: digital cameras

Hehe - that's how I approached it a bit at first, because I need to find some things out on my own before I get into detail, see how much I can pick up intuitively. But then, I have to go back and look under the hood a bit, because at some point, my curiosity demands to know WHY. !
