Horrible creatures when they grow up. I sprinkle diatomaceous earth on them as soon as I see them. When they grow up they eat everything in the garden!!

Possibly... except grasshoppers lay their eggs in the ground and not in a sac. It could be many things, not associated with the grasshopper at all.
