Yes, I don’t even bother to try to zoom beyond 3X because the quality is pants.

Well, I think it works sometimes. As you might have seen I have even tried maximal digital zoom with a relatively decent result

I saw the movie years ago but didn’t recognise the quote. I’m not much of a sci-fi fan but the ‘breathing underwater’ scenes were memorable.
