Are you having trouble with your crumpets Dee? Pinterest usually has some good recipes for everything. Sourdough too. Although, having said that, I’ve never had much success with sourdough.

I was... but the past two days I seem to have it figured out! Temperature and time(s) to cook/bake and timing of sourdough feedings. It helps I was finally able to secure unbleached flour and bread flour which I think did the trick.

I HOPE my bread turned out! Fourth attempt the charm? Will try it out tonight :)

Wow, that loaf looks amazing. The crumpets don’t look like they normally do - full of holes on the top. What did they taste like?

The recipe from King Arthur Flour Crumpets

Seems like a texture of an English Muffin... but cooks up like a pancake, with a sourdough sort of flavor.

Been using the sourdough discard in various ways other than simply composting. Waffles were very good too. :coffee:

Recommendations are not to cut sourdough for hours... it's different than regular bread. The inside might be "gluey" if sliced too soon! ;)

Not that I’ll be making sourdough anytime soon, but good to know! Have you tried it already? :D

Yes, we had it with dinner that evening! ;)

The flavor is wonderful, but I think still need to perfect the "crumb" or get a better knife... it's hard to slice the first day.

When I was baking bread (before this pesky gluten problem started) I seem to remember that it wasn’t a good idea to cut into that while it was hot. That’s why I routinely made 2 loaves. One for gobbling immediately and one for later.

Wow, wow and eh? It’s not very often hospitals are left to deteriorate, and it looks like a big one too. Fabulous pineapple and loaf. A pineapple sandwich? :lol:

Thanks! Pineapple plants all over the place in the back yard, only two fruit this year :coffee:

The hospital was functioning when we moved here eight years ago - I looked into it, a developer bought it for a couple million a few years ago touting they would make it into condos or something :whistle: ; it is a shame, there are homeless people who hang around that area sometimes, if only they could make a shelter or something out of it. The building is going to waste.
