It was a birthday helium balloon someone abandoned by the bins in the library, so I snipped the string and let it ascend three floors up the central stairwell! I eventually found its way into the skylight. I want to see how long it will take before it drifts down again!
Well, I suppose nobody wants to be Michael Fish.
And for those of you in the rest of the world:
Michael Fish got the storm of 1987 wrong - but modern supercomputers may have missed it too
Thirty years have passed since the storm but even today's computers may have struggled to predict its destruction accurately.
