15th July - Clover Flower

I know many people don’t like clover as it ruins their pristine lawns, but if you let it grow, which I have done this year the flowers outweigh a spoilt lawn. They are beautiful little pearls within the green.

16th July - White Tailed Bumblebee on Meadowsweet

Another walk along the canal by the beautiful Meadowsweet and spotted this bumblebee drinking the pollen. Usually, the bees either fly off or move so never get a good shot, but today this one was so engrossed managed to get up close and got a good face on close-up.

17th July - Comma Butterfly

Another visitor to the Meadowsweet, a beautiful Comma butterfly proudly showing off its’ lovely patterning on the wings. I think I will try to grow some Meadowsweet in my wildlife area in the garden as it clearly is one of the most popular of plants.

Lovely Jan. We haven’t seen any commas yet.

18th July - Small Skipper Butterfly

Another butterfly spotted on the canal, the Small Skipper. I thought it was a day moth but found it on google. Although called a small skipper, it was quite a large butterfly with a beautiful furry body.

25th July - Hunmanby Bay, Bridlington

A lovely walk today up on the cliffs then down along the beach back to the car. The tide was coming in so the waves were breaking gently on the beach.

29th July - Storms on the Way

After the heatwave, the storms are on the horizon. On our walk around the farmland near the village we could see the storm coming. Even the wheat was being battered by the wind bending the ears over.

30th July - Woodpigeon

This Woodpigeon was working hard on building a nest in our cherry tree. The male was busy bringing in twigs, some, like this one, were too large and awkward to build with, she just picked up and dropped them onto the ground where there is a now growing pile of discarded sticks.

31st July - ‘Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside.’

On our last day in Bridlington I thought I’d take some street shots of traditional British seaside and this is my favourite - a couple eating fish and chips on the promenade in front of the holidaymakers on the beach. I post processed it to give the image an ‘instamatic’ effect.

1st August - Taking Off

Watching these Greylag Geese from a hide at a local nature reserve something spooked them and they started to take off, so took a series of ‘live’ shots and this was the best. Love the goose on the left - looks like its walking on water.
