Really! And the chap looks well fed-up.
Those moments when you remember multicultural Ann is in fact quite English

Yup, if you were to meet me you would realise that I'm a total mongrel. Can lapse into the South African vernacular as easily as I can eat cucumber sandwiches with the Sloanies. Those moments when you remember multicultural Ann is in fact quite English
Fabulous.
Wow, look at all those reflections and lines and, as Jen said, old and young with the same jackets but black and white. Lovely one.
Beauty. Wonderful contrasts - even down to young/old with black/white anoraks
Was the woman happy about having her picture taken?
I'll take your word for it, though it's hard to imagine. Good b/w shot regardless.Well, it looks seedier in B&W than it does in colour.
Cheers Paul! This is a wonderful image!
I have seen bagpipers on the cliffs right near there. Perhaps it's a spacetime warp -- there are a number of those around Santa Cruz. Are you sure you don't live on a small island off the coast of Scotland Ted?
What a great setup with those mirrors and that b/w checkered floor, and such a clean shot. Nicely done!
Thanks Venomator. I dithered around a lot before posting this one. One moment it looked just right and then another moment or on another screen, it looked overdone. This is really great Ted...
Very clever to reflect the fluffy white clouds with the fluffy breakers, excellent composition...
I love the snow in the eyes. Really gives it a myth & fantasy aura.Just resting

That's not mongrel: that's versatile, well-rounded, multi-faceted, syncretic.... Ambidextrous, maybeYup, if you were to meet me you would realise that I'm a total mongrel. Can lapse into the South African vernacular as easily as I can eat cucumber sandwiches with the Sloanies.
It's a sculpture, maybe 10 feet high or so, made of rusted metal and thick translucent plastic. It sits on the cliffs overlooking Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz, California. It's been there for some time, but recently people have started adding things to it, some seem to be memorials, others just random bits. What is that actually? Building/monument for praying? New one on me. The merging to two previously distinct religions, traditions, whatevers. Derivation: syn (union) Crete (Crete the place) - Union of Cretians.syncretic....
Fab choices Chris, well done everyone. There's always good work on this thread but I, for one, think this week has shown some exceptional stuff.1st place goes to the excellent Two Lane Highway by Ikbside,
2nd place goes to Chineezguy's leaf
3rd place goes to Ryn S
Good Evening from a wet miserable West Sussex.
Great selection of BW photos, again. Just love the BW work this group produces. Tough time choosing from between the eventual winner and second place, but my love of traveling decided the winner.
1st place goes to the excellent Two Lane Highway by Ikbside, the photo is crisp, clean and clear. It leaves me wondering 'where does this road lead to?' I'd like to drive that road

2nd place goes to Chineezguy's leaf on the car photo, another very clear image, love the water droplets.
3rd place goes to Ryn S' ' Where the seeds have withered' minimal and moody, a great photo that would look great on a wall.
