Day 98 - April 8th - Why

I’m so sad. My sister called and told me that her cute little grandchild, one-year-old Selma, has been diagnosed with cancer. The tumour is in her neck. Could be spinal and/or brain damages after surgery.

Weather’s still bad

I'm so sorry to hear this Eva.

Oh no Eva. I’m so sorry. It’s awful when anyone is diagnosed with cancer, but when it’s a child it’s tragic. Let’s hope that the surgery goes without a hitch and that she’s well afterwards. I think surgeons have to prepare everyone for the worst case scenario.

Such sad news. I truly hope things go the right way in such terrible time. My thoughts are with your family.
The specialists have decided not to do surgery yet. Instead little Selma will be on chemotherapy for the next 18 months. Of course there will be regular checkups. If the tumour continous to grow despite chemo they will have to do surgery. The parents are totally devastated of course. It’s their first child. They are thirty both of them. Same age I was when our little baby died. Everything feels a bit surreal for me.

Day 99 - April 9th - At least the sun was kind enough to show up

Shot about 6 this morning, just after sunrise. I would characterise this photo as a typical February photo. Just that the sun doesn’t rise in that direction then. And of course not so early in the morning.

I also meant to test shooting macros of the bird traces outside our door. But while I took a pause in the ladies room DH had swiped everything away. So here’s a non macro. Did some tweaking in Photos app

Words escape me and i dont really know what to say. A long road for you all ahead. Im all too familiar with the blackness that can smother a parent when illness grips a child. The good thing is, children have far more resilience than we give them credit for and itll be the adults that suffer the most, i really believe that. The support and love given to Selma will provide the strength to win the battle.

Thanks Ric, I think you are so right about children’s resilience. And Selma is too young to understand what’s going on, which in a way is good for her. Now the little family will get even more supported as Selma’s granny, who lives in southern Sweden is coming up and will help them with practical things like cooking. I’ve never met her, but everyone says she is such a kind and calm and “thinking person”

Day 100 - April 10th - Should have been wild flowers here by now

When I noticed that Easter is a late one this year, my first thought was: Oh yes, we can have bouquets of wild flowers from our garden with our Easter decorations. Things never go as planned

Lovethose chicken cones. Way better than the garden gnomes I see around here. (My apologies if you’re a gnomophile. )

I guess we could be labelled kitschophiles  And I admit it’s not just Linus’ ”fault” But no garden gnomes except for the one we found on the roadside earlier this year.

Day 101 - April 11th - Spring sprung back

The snow melts quickly as we have 8 degrees and winds from the west. The flowers were waiting under the fluffy white cover. We had a really nice walk. Now off to Linus for Monday ritual :coffee: :inlove:

Looks like a squirrel I think

Day 103 - April 13th - Thank you Mr Noisy Pheasant

For once I was sleeping like a log without pain or other physical disturbances. Then a male pheasant started squawking very loudly….Quite annoyed I got up muttering. But then I looked out and saw a beautiful magic red sky. It was 10 minutes before sunrise. After sunrise all the colours were completely gone.

Lightroom mobile. I tried to get rid of the over-sharped twigs and branches created by the native cam. I wasn’t satisfied so I added a wee of coherence in iColorama. What are your favourite methods to eliminate the over-sharpening?

Lovely capture. I really like the second one though as well. I love softer images and usually get it via noise reduction on lightroom or in affinity photo. Maybe duplicating the original photo to another layer and playing with the layer blend mode will help but your usually seeing a darkening or lightening in the image then.

I think WOTANICUS Bill is calling for the first one for the Mobi Colour Challenge.:) I don’t usually do anything with it if I’m taking it into Hipstamatic to edit. iColorama or Snapseed will soften the edges nicely.

Thank you both :)

Depending on the image, I'll use Coherence, turned way down, as you mentioned, or some negative Structure in Snapseed or some other app. For artifacts in a big expanse of sky, Glamour Glow in Snapseed applied just to the affected parts may also work.

Day 105 - April 15th Good Friday - Not as warm and cozy as it looks

Icy wind from the north today :( My boys have been working hard, shifting to “summer wheels” on the car and made our garden tent ready for the season. So they really deserved a coffee break
