My Sacred Space

I was having lunch with my friend and, as I was saying "Norma, I love you, but if you touch my food I'll stab you with this fork." I realised that the plate of food in front of me is my sacred space (any plate, any time). :lmao: This is a brandy snap and roasted peach dessert. Picsart and Snapseed.

One of the most sacred places I've ever visited is the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. Today's remembrance of the 75th Anniversary of the attack reminds me of my visit there in 2000. No smart phones back then (got pics, but they're buried).

Brandy snap & roasted peach dessert . . . Oh my goodness. I want one.

Lots of layering in Leonardo, bunch of massaging in iColorama to help make the layers look all of a piece.

I had a b/w snap of a poster of an x-ray of a skull that I've been wanting to use for something for quite a while now, so I started grabbing interesting bits and pieces from my Camera Roll, things that I like (but in several cases haven't been able to find a use for), without much of a plan (as you probably guessed), just looking for bits that seemed to fit with the rest as it grew. The magic all happens inside the skull, right?

How did I miss this?!?! I saw someone's reply and said "WHAT?!?"

Brilliant Ted. [emoji1373][emoji177][emoji144]‍♀️

Hahaha!!!! I love it!

And I've found where we differ!! LOL!! I love sharing food, and always want bites of what everyone else is having, and willingly share my food.

I'll have to remember this when we meet.... [emoji15][emoji850][emoji23]

 Well. I don't mind if someone asks first. I will happily share then. But if someone steals a chip (French fries) they are in grave danger. :sneaky:

That church from EOS153. All done in snapseed except overlaying the original at around 20% in Pixlr a la terse in the Pixlr TWAC thread. Getting the size the same is a real pain.View attachment 85411
It's got a really spooky atmosphere about it, even though it's daylight. I fully expect a decomposing hand and head to appear over the top of a gravestone at any moment.

It's a small Catholic chapel on a rural county road in northern Michigan, about 20 miles east of Charlevoix. It has always caught my eye as I pass it a couple of times each year.

Thank you! And yes, it's a gem. [emoji106]
Nope, definitely never been there. But if I ever come to this area I know where to go. [emoji4]

How delicious does that look! I'm glad you and my DH aren't together. He's lethal with his fork too . I darent steal a chip. Not worth my life. :D

I have a sacred place I go to when I need a private meditative spot to clear my head or want to feel the oneness of the universe.

There is no trail to get there. You just have to know where to leave the road, walk zig-zag down a long steep (as steep as the ground will stay secure without sliding) forested hill about 300 metres and along the brook a few hundred meters, bring your rubber boots because you have to wade the brook twice and believe me, the water is much too cold for getting wet. Down there you find a magical moss-lined hollow with the brook passing through, a small waterfall, and a pool below the falls about 2 metres deep. My personal sacred place. I knew it the moment I first discovered it. You can feel it immediately. You feel hesitant to make any sound. I've spent hours there. There are some brook trout in the pool but you can't see them unless you poke your head underwater with some goggles. (Brrrr.)
You can be sure nobody will disturb you down there. I've never seen any other footprints there, or litter. The only sound is the waterfall. Sit on a rock or fallen tree and after a while you have become part of the earth. I have brought very few people down there and only when I felt they needed to be in a sacred place for a while. I'm not worried, I doubt if they could find their way back there without my help. Twice I've experienced a profound feeling of oneness with all that is while sitting there. It's like one minute you're there and the next minute you're outside of yourself, everywhere and every when at once. The stars and molecules at once.
This photo was made on my old iPod in my early days of mobile photography.

This second photo is a 360 panorama. You can see how the falls and pool are surrounded by a rocky gully covered in green moss. Half the fun is climbing back up the hill. I feel like I enter stealth mode when I enter or leave, waiting until no one is around before leaving the road.
